How to Delete a Facebook Group

Facebook Groups are a designated space for members to communicate shared interests, build connections based on niche or broad interests, and attain a level of engagement previously unheard of. If it’s time to hit pause or delete your facebook group, we’ll show you the steps on how to delete a Facebook page or archive it for later.

How to Delete a Facebook Group

  • From your News Feed, click Groups in the menu on the left hand side.
  • Select your group.
  • Click Members below the group name.
  • Next to each member’s name, click remove member.
  • Click Confirm.
  • Proceed to remove all group members.
  • Click next to your name and click leave group.
  • To delete a Facebook Group, the original creator must choose to leave it.

Note: If you’re still using Old Facebook — which will be gradually phased out in September 2020 | the steps are similar, but include an extra ending step of clicking Leave and Delete.

Deleting a Facebook group is quite a drastic and arduous task. Depending on how big your Facebook group is. You may need to set aside a few hours or a few days to delete the group.

It’s important that you are sure that you wish to delete the group and all the interactions that have taken place within it.

Not certain you want to delete your group? Consider archiving it. It may be a better and less conclusive option instead.

How to Archive a Facebook group

  • From your News Feed, click Groups in the menu on the left.
  • Select your group. 
  • Click above the About section.
  • Select Archive group.
  • Click Confirm.

This way, the group is rendered inactive and unsearchable for any new members, but all previous posts, comments, and members remain intact. 

Whichever method you choose, it is better to be considered. Archiving your page may be better solution the deleting.
