Dear Evan Hansen gets a digital debut Down Under

Michael Cassel Group and Sydney Theatre Company are two of Australia’s leading theatrical companies bringing the high quality theatrical experiences to Australian shores. They joined forces to produce a brand-new production of smash hit musical Dear Evan Hansen. The pepper team were thrilled to work on the website for the Australian national tour.

The Mission

Michael Cassel Group  asked pepperit to create a website announcing its Australian tour of Dear Evan Hansen across four cities starting in 2024 and going into 2025. The website launch coincided with the top-secret announcement of the Australian casting. With a tight deadline and multiple stakeholders, the entire team was under the pump to create a slick, comprehensive website by the stroke of midnight.

Creating a website that precisely followed the Dear Evan Hansen brand guidelines was essential to a successful launch for all stakeholders.

Our Approach

The pepperit team integrated the provided design and content into a WordPress website, addressing logistical and technical challenges to optimise functionality, design, and SEO benefits.

The website integrates with Salesforce Pardot, allowing for a seamless transfer of data. This integration provides valuable information to understand the audience visiting dearevanhansenmusical.com.au, and supports more targeted marketing campaigns. Initially, tickets were on sale for the Sydney season only. The next phase was to announce and waitlist the remaining cities; Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. The website was updated to allow for Sydney tickets on sale, as well as waitlist options for all other cities. The website would then soon after update when tickets for all cities went on sale.

The website integrates with Salesforce Pardot, allowing for a seamless transfer of data and greater understanding of the Dear Evan Hansen audience.

Important to the pepperit approach was to provide some consistency across Michael Cassel Group’s websites. Having developed multiple websites for Michael Cassel Group, we were able to maintain the same experience on the Dear Evan Hansen site across forms, menus and brand styles. In particular, on the Cast & Creatives page, we included a pop-up similar to both & JULIET and MichaelCassel.com. By taking a broader view across all Michael Cassel Group assets, we are helping to build consistency with the Michael Cassel Group online experience.

The Upshot

The website for Dear Evan Hansen was launched on schedule, exceeding expectations and delighting all stakeholders involved. The excitement was palpable, especially on Instagram, where the cast announcement post, timed perfectly with the website’s debut, garnered an overwhelming response, attracting hundreds of reactions and comments.
