Wollongong Homeless Hub and Housing Services (WHHHS) supports vulnerable people across the Illawarra region with crisis accommodation, outreach, wraparound case management, and pathways back to stable living. The pepperit design team was tasked with creating a professional annual report that honoured their impact, communicated key outcomes with clarity, and reflected the dignity of the people they support.

Our approach centred on dynamic and visual storytelling, succinct, yet emotional copy, and a clean layout that would translate seamlessly between print and digital formats.

The Brief

We began with a simple goal. Create an annual report that communicated the power of community and the impact of an organisation dedicated to helping vulnerable people find stability.

The central creative idea was built around the theme of reaching for a better future. The cover features a single hand reaching skyward. This symbol captures hope, resilience, and the work WHHHS does every day to help people rise out of hardship.

Every subsequent design decision followed that theme. White space, clean lines, and calm colours gave space for stories to breathe. Photography provided by WHHHS guided the visual language so the report remained grounded in the lived reality of their clients.

Custom Graphics and Key Statistics

To elevate the data presentation, we created a suite of custom graphics that made key statistics stand out. These included:

  • Infographic style icons to represent service categories

  • Visual summaries of yearly outcomes

  • Easy to read charts and numbers that showed impact at a glance

The goal was to help stakeholders quickly understand the scale and effectiveness of WHHHS services while also creating visual moments that break up dense content.

Stories of hope

WHHHS provided success stories of the people they have helped throughout the year, to demonstrate the impact they are having for both individuals and communities. From temporary housing assistance, to landlord negotiation and property improvements, to providing basic necessities, the value of their work in the Illawara comes through on every page.

The copy focused on clarity, empathy, and accountability. We shaped the narrative to:

  • Highlight the outcomes WHHHS delivered during the year

  • Celebrate the strength of the people they support

  • Provide transparent reporting for stakeholders

Each section was structured to keep information simple and accessible for a broad audience while still providing the depth expected of an annual report.

The Outcome

The final annual report provided WHHHS with a professional, visually engaging document that celebrated their achievements and reflected their mission. It will be used in the year to come to strengthen communications with funders, partners, and the community while offering a clear record of the impact they make every day.
