The Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is a charitable organisation championing young people’s rights, providing training, resources and policy within the youth sector. YACVic, the leading peak body and policy advocate for young people aged 12–25 and the youth sector in Victoria, engaged pepperit to design and produce its 2024–2025 Annual Report. The previous year was defining for young people across Victoria, marked by growing social pressures alongside opportunities for increased youth leadership and influence. NEEDS BETTER INTEGRATIONThe aim was to capture a year of advocacy and collective action, using colour, imagery and data to clearly communicate impact while staying true to YACVic’s youth driven ethos.

YACVic came to pepperit prepared: well-organised images, content and a clear outline made for an easy process of layout and design. The brief was to move beyond traditional reporting and develop a publication that felt energetic, accessible and grounded in young people’s experiences.
The report needed to balance statutory reporting with storytelling, presenting complex policy work, participation outcomes and sector leadership in a way that was clear, engaging and respectful of the voices that shaped it.

A strong focus was placed on using visual storytelling to make impact immediately clear. Custom graphics were developed to highlight participation numbers, training outcomes, engagement metrics and advocacy reach across the year.
Key statistics were embedded throughout the report within each strategic goal, rather than grouped into a single standalone section. This approach reinforces the scale of youth participation and sector impact at the point where the work is discussed, helping readers connect outcomes directly to the initiatives that produced them. Bold colour blocks and clear data panels allow readers to quickly understand key outcomes while maintaining momentum and visual energy throughout the publication.

Our approach focused on translating YACVic’s content plan into a clear, engaging publication that would communicate complex information while remaining accessible to a wide range of readers. Working from the organisation’s strategic framework, we developed a design system that could clearly organise policy work, sector initiatives and organisational outcomes within a cohesive visual narrative.
The report is structured around five strategic areas (policy reform, participation, sector strengthening, social justice and organisational sustainability) reflecting the breadth of YACVic’s work across the youth sector. Each section was given a distinct visual identity through colour, typography and layout cues, helping readers easily navigate the publication while reinforcing the scale and diversity of activity across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria.
Colour, imagery and custom graphics are used consistently across each goal to showcase youth participation, advocacy outcomes and sector leadership. Statistics, case examples and lived experience stories sit alongside one another, reinforcing that young people are not just beneficiaries of the work, but active leaders shaping it.
From concept to final layout, the design balances clarity with energy, combining strong typographic hierarchy, bold colour blocks and structured information panels to create a report that is both informative and visually engaging.

The final annual report translates a complex year of policy advocacy, sector support and organisational activity into a clear and engaging publication. Through strong visual hierarchy, distinct section identities and structured data panels, the report helps readers quickly understand both the breadth of YACVic’s work and the outcomes achieved across the year.
Key milestones, sector initiatives and organisational updates are presented alongside concise statistics and pull-out highlights, ensuring that important results remain visible throughout the publication. The combination of bold colour blocks, typographic hierarchy and clear information panels creates a report that is easy to navigate while maintaining a sense of energy and momentum from section to section.
The result is a publication that not only documents the year’s work, but also provides YACVic with a professional communications tool that can be shared with government, sector partners and the wider community.
